Block of the Month

Patterns, fabric and hands-on instructions are furnished members for a different block each month. At the business meeting (first Tuesday of each month) blocks are turned in and one member wins them all and gets to use them to make a quilt top.

May 2009 - April 2010

We will be doing something different for a few months. Betty Young is presenting new blocks each month for Guild members to work on for themselves using their own fabric choices. When the desired number of blocks are created the Guild member can assemble them into a sampler quilt. This fits perfectly with our 2010 Quilt Show them "Variety is the Spice of Life". We hope to see some of these quilts in our quilt show.

'Scrappy Shaded Nine Patch'
March 2009 Block of the Month
presented by Karen Wells.
This is you chance to raid your scrap box or bag. The charm of this quilt is in the variety of fabrics that can be used, especially if no fabric appears more than once in a block.

'Sweetheart Chain'
February 2009 Block of the Month
presented by Karen Wells.
Winners are: Carol Hudiburg, Judy Potter, Carolyn Gavin, and Sue Trigg. Congratulations!
February’s block is a large heart that looks like a bargello technique (but isn’t.) Because the blocks are large, if we get the same number of participants this month, Karen hopes to have four winners at the March Business Meeting when the block is due.

'Spools'
Our January 2009 Block Of The Month
These blocks were won by Dee Strever!
Congratulations Dee!
This block will be presented by Karen Wells. The white fabric will be furnished with the pattern and members who participate will be asked to use red, green, blue and yellow fabrics from their stash. We hope that many guild members will decide to make this easy block. It would be nice if the winner has lots of pretty blocks to make a memorable quilt.
